MPSC aspirants end protest as Maharashtra forms inquiry panel into paper leaks

MPSC aspirants in Pune have suspended their 11-day protest following the Maharashtra government's decision to form a high-level inquiry committee to investigate alleged paper leaks and recruitment irregularities within the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC).

The five-member committee will be chaired by retired Bombay High Court judge Dilip Bhosale and includes IPS officer Laxmi Gautam, former IAS officer Ganesh Patil, and retired judge P. D. Naik. Senior IAS officer Tukaram Mundhe has been appointed as the committee's secretary. The panel is expected to submit its findings within 60 days.

In a significant development, MPSC Chairman Vivek Bhimanwar announced he would go on leave until the inquiry is completed, though the government has not officially removed him from his post. To address other grievances, the state government has also agreed to withdraw cases filed against protesters and committed to filling 70,000 vacant positions over the next three years.
