MPSC drug inspector exam leak investigation uncovers 270-page WhatsApp chat

The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has uncovered significant digital evidence in the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) drug inspector recruitment exam paper leak investigation. Investigators recovered approximately 270 pages of WhatsApp chats from the mobile phone of co-accused Lokesh, also known as Gaurav Patil.

The chats provide a detailed timeline of the alleged fraud surrounding the March 22, 2026, examination. According to investigators, the messages reveal a deal involving 91 questions and a demand for 5 lakh rupees. The digital evidence suggests that a question bank was exchanged prior to the exam, with Rutuja Patil—who reportedly secured the 7th rank—claiming that 78 of the provided questions appeared in the actual test.

To avoid detection, the chats indicate that instructions were given to intentionally solve 10 questions incorrectly so that answer sheets would not appear suspicious. While the primary suspect, Rutuja Patil, reportedly threw her mobile phone into the Ulhas River to destroy evidence, the recovered chats from Gaurav Patil have exposed the network, including mentions of wanted suspect Mayur Thackeray and discussions regarding the financial transaction.
