MPSC postpones three major exams amid security concerns

The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has postponed three major examinations originally scheduled to begin on October 3, 2026. The affected exams include the State Services Main Examination 2026, the Maharashtra Civil Engineering Main Examination 2026, and the Maharashtra Group-B (Non-Gazetted) Main Examination 2026. New dates for these exams have not yet been announced.

The decision follows significant pressure from students, parents, and student organizations demanding a review of the examination process. These protests were fueled by concerns over question paper security and previous allegations of paper leaks, specifically regarding a Drug Inspector examination. Some candidates have called for question papers to be prepared entirely from scratch to ensure integrity.

In addition to the postponements, the MPSC has decided to re-evaluate the answer sheets from the 2025 State Services Main Examination due to objections regarding scoring and evaluation methods. This re-evaluation is expected to cause further delays in the 2025 examination cycle.

A high-level committee led by V. Radha is currently reviewing the commission’s examination systems and is expected to submit recommendations soon. While some political figures have called for the resignation of MPSC Chairman Vivek Bhimwar, Bhimwar has denied responsibility for recent leak allegations, stating they occurred prior to his tenure.
