MPSC student protests prompt calls for government dialogue
Students protesting the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) are demanding administrative reforms, increased transparency in examinations, and the removal of the Commission's chairperson. The unrest has led to the postponement of the State Services Main Examination 2026, originally scheduled for October 3.
Sharad Pawar, leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar), has urged the state government to initiate immediate dialogue with the protesters to resolve the impasse. He noted a sense of unrest among students in Pune, Mumbai, and other parts of the state.
Civil services educator Dr. Vikas Divyakirti has also called for government intervention, citing the mental stress caused to students by exam delays, pending results, and ongoing legal disputes. He emphasized that the government must ensure recruitment processes, including exams and appointments, are completed according to a fixed schedule.
