MPSC aspirants protest in Maharashtra over alleged paper leaks
Students across Maharashtra, particularly in Pune and Nagpur, are intensifying protests against the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) following allegations of paper leaks and examination irregularities. The agitation was triggered by suspected malpractice in the Drug Inspector recruitment exam.
Protesters are demanding the immediate resignation of MPSC Chairperson Vivek Bhimanwar and a complete overhaul of the commission's executive body. Key student demands include ensuring all future examinations follow an objective methodology, releasing a clear examination schedule, and filling over 70,000 vacant posts.
The protests have drawn significant political attention. Rahul Gandhi expressed support for the aspirants, stating he would raise their demands with the state government. Meanwhile, MP Supriya Sule has urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to engage in executive dialogue to resolve the deadlock. While the Chief Minister previously assured a judicial inquiry into the commission's leadership, students continue to demonstrate, citing a need for permanent solutions rather than mere assurances.
