MQM-P reaffirms demand for new provinces in Pakistan

Mustafa Kamal, a senior leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and Health Minister, has reaffirmed the party’s demand for the creation of new provinces. Speaking in Karachi, Kamal argued that the party has not abandoned this position and continues to support administrative restructuring.

Kamal highlighted disparities in administrative structures, noting that Karachi is divided into seven districts while cities like Lahore and Peshawar operate as single districts. He criticized the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), which has governed Sindh for 18 years, for failing to provide basic services such as sanitation, clean water, and public safety.

MQM-P leaders have argued that the demand is driven by a need for administrative efficiency and better service delivery. They have also pointed to revenue imbalances, claiming Karachi generates a significant portion of Sindh’s revenue but receives a disproportionately small amount of development spending.
