MR. DIY targets 1,000 stores in Poland expansion
The Malaysian retail chain MR. DIY is pursuing an ambitious expansion strategy in Poland, aiming to open at least 1,000 stores across the country. Having entered the Polish market in November 2024, the company expects to reach its 50th location in December with the opening of a store in BIG Konstantynów.
Magdalena Nazarewicz, Business Development Director Europe for MR. DIY, stated that the company is not limiting its growth to major metropolitan areas. Instead, the retailer is targeting towns with populations between 100,000 and 200,000 residents, as well as smaller municipalities such as Żyrardów, Oława, Mielec, Nysa, and Świdnik.
The company utilizes a dual-format approach, opening locations in both retail parks and large shopping malls. While retail parks offer easier access for residents of nearby housing estates, shopping malls provide greater brand promotion opportunities and protection from weather conditions. The expansion strategy relies on individual location analysis to adapt to changing consumer preferences.
