MR. DIY to open first Hungarian store in Budapest
Malaysian-based retail giant MR. DIY is expanding into the Hungarian market with its first store located in Budapest's KÖKI Terminál. The company has already begun site preparations and is currently recruiting staff for the new location.
Founded in Kuala Lumpur in 2005, MR. DIY has grown into an international network with approximately 6,000 stores across more than 15 countries. The retailer specializes in a wide variety of products, including household goods, hardware, home decor, electrical accessories, stationery, toys, and sporting goods. Individual stores can carry between 15,000 and 17,000 different items.
While the company's Hungarian subsidiary was registered in the summer of 2025, the official opening date, exact store size, and specific pricing strategy for the Hungarian market have not yet been disclosed. The retailer is expected to compete with existing discount chains such as TEDi, KiK, and Jysk.
