MR freezes 131 million euros for Brussels social housing

Georges-Louis Bouchez, president of the MR party, has frozen 131 million euros intended for the Brussels Regional Housing Company (SLRB). This financial blockade is a direct response to the re-election of Lotfi Mostefa as president of the Anderlechtse Haard, a position held by the PS party.

The decision follows allegations of favoritism and clientelism involving Mostefa, which were highlighted in a VRT report and a subsequent parliamentary inquiry. The MR argues that the PS's continued support for Mostefa demonstrates a refusal to address systemic governance failures.

The frozen funds represent a significant portion of the SLRB's current annual budget and are essential for completing new housing projects and settling outstanding invoices. While the investment in social housing was a key pillar of the coalition agreement between the liberals and socialists, the MR is using this leverage to demand transparency and accountability in public institutions.
