MRAK removed as managing director of Afterlife parent company

Carmine Conte, known professionally as MRAK, has been removed as managing director of Karmat Music GmbH, the Berlin-based parent company of the Afterlife label and event series. According to documents from the Berlin commercial register, shareholders voted to remove Conte with immediate effect on August 6. While Conte remains a 30% shareholder alongside co-founder Matteo Milleri (Anyma) and Aurelia Ortiz, he no longer holds a management role.

The removal follows an internal legal dispute. Karmat Music has alleged that Conte shared confidential documents with SIPAL S. p. A., an Italian corporate partner and minority shareholder, during an ongoing legal battle between the two entities. The company further alleges that Conte instructed a lawyer to accept SIPAL’s claims in court, resulting in a decision against Karmat in May. These allegations have not been ruled upon in court, and Conte has not issued a public statement.

This development occurs as Anyma has increasingly distanced himself from the duo’s shared projects, recently launching his own label, ÆDEN Records.
