MrBeast completes $10 million humanitarian village in Ghana

YouTube creator Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast, has completed a $10 million humanitarian project in Abna Dakwa, Ghana. The initiative, funded through his nonprofit Beast Philanthropy, aims to combat generational poverty and prevent child labor on cacao farms by providing educational and infrastructure resources.

The new village includes a school designed to accommodate over 300 students, featuring free meals for five years and teacher housing. To improve living standards, the project also installed solar power, clean water systems, drainage infrastructure to prevent flooding, and new homes. Additional community facilities include a marketplace, agricultural facilities, a community center, and a football field.

Following criticism regarding why the project was located in Ghana rather than the creator's home region in North Carolina, Donaldson noted that Beast Philanthropy already operates extensively in the United States. His nonprofit's food program, Beast Pantry, has distributed over 48 million meals since 2020, serving more than 20 communities across Eastern North Carolina, New York, and Pennsylvania.
