Márcio Braga criticizes legal dispute between Flamengo and Vasco presidents

Former Flamengo president Márcio Braga has criticized Luiz Eduardo Baptista, known as Bap, for filing a lawsuit against Vasco da Gama president Pedrinho. In messages sent to Flamengo's Administrative Council WhatsApp group, Braga labeled the legal action as “burrice” (stupidity) and referred to Baptista as “débil mental” (mentally weak).

The legal dispute arose after Pedrinho used several derogatory terms to describe Baptista, including “mau-caráter” (bad character), “arrogante” (arrogant), and “hipócrita” (hypocrite). Baptista is seeking a public retraction, the removal of the statements, and at least R$ 40,000 in moral damages.

Braga argued that maintaining a positive institutional relationship between the two clubs is vital, noting that Vasco is Flamengo’s “best client” due to the high attendance and economic impact of their matches at the Maracanã. He suggested that Flamengo should support Vasco as it navigates its complex transition into a SAF (Sociedade Anônima do Futebol) model.
