Møre og Romsdal proposes lower bus fares and road renewal program
Møre og Romsdal county is proposing several initiatives to improve regional infrastructure and transport affordability. Following a state subsidy scheme, the county director recommends reducing prices for 30-day bus tickets in Ålesund starting in November. For a single-zone adult, the price would drop from 777 to 632 NOK, while the FRAM Ung rate would decrease from 418 to 273 NOK.
Simultaneously, the county is proposing a new road renewal program titled ‘På god veg’ to address a maintenance backlog on county roads, which was estimated at 16.8 billion NOK in 2023. The program aims to improve safety and accessibility across 21 geographic areas, from Smøla to Vanylven. To implement this long-term, scalable program, the county is calling for increased state funding, noting a national need for an annual 5 billion NOK increase in subsidies for county road renewal.
The transport committee is scheduled to process these proposals on September 10.
