Mérida approves four new urban development programs

The Mérida City Council has approved four new Partial Urban Development Programs as part of the Municipal Program for Territorial Ordering and Urban Development (PMOTDUM). This initiative aims to address the specific needs of different city zones and guide growth with order and functionality.

The four strategic areas identified are the Historic Center and Colonies Circuit, the North Zone, the Inner West Zone, and the Peri-urban West Zone. The plan specifically targets interventions in the Historic Center, Cordemex, Juan Pablo, and Caucel.

Key priorities include environmental projects such as climate shelters and green corridors, mobility improvements through pedestrian and cycling connectivity, and urban actions focused on public spaces and historical heritage. For the first time, the planning vision incorporates the municipality's 47 commissariats to protect their local identity and history.
