Mérida authorities detain four for attempted gang homicide

Four individuals have been formally charged and placed in preventive detention following an attempted homicide in the Montes de Amé neighborhood of Mérida, Yucatán. The suspects, identified as Rubén Ernesto T. M., Rubén Ernesto C. C., Rubí de los Ángeles M. E., and Claudia Cristina C. M., face charges of attempted qualified homicide committed by a gang.

The incident occurred on October 2, when a firearm attack left one man injured. Investigations revealed the victim to be José Marcelino “N”, also known as “El Marce”, who has been identified as a leader of the Cancún plaza operating out of Mérida.

During the hearing at the Second Control Court of the First Judicial District, prosecutors presented evidence that led the judge to authorize the legal proceedings. A three-month period has been established for the completion of the complementary investigation. Authorities also seized a vehicle and a motorcycle believed to be linked to the crime.
