Mérida authorities order return of two dogs to owner

In Mérida, two dogs named Oso and Blanqui are set to return to their owner, Jacinto, following a decision by a Civic Judge. The ruling was based on medical evaluations indicating that prolonged sheltering could negatively impact the animals' emotional well-being.

The Mérida City Council’s Animal Protection Unit (UPA) monitored the case, utilizing the Five Domains Model to assess the animals' mental state. While the return is ordered, an ongoing amparo lawsuit will continue through legal channels. Municipal authorities stated that the decision prioritizes the integral protection of the animals based on technical criteria.
