Mérida hosts athletic event for youth prevention
More than 1,500 people participated in the 11th D.A.R.E. Athletic Day, ‘Corre con valentía y corazón,’ organized by the Mérida Municipal Police. The event, led by Mayor Cecilia Patrón Laviada, featured a 5-kilometer race and a 3-kilometer walk held at Jardín Bepensa.
The initiative is part of a prevention and social proximity program aimed at children, adolescents, and youth to combat violence and addiction. Since its implementation in Mérida in 2008, the D.A.R.E. program has reached over 80,000 students and residents through educational, recreational, and sporting activities.
