Mérida hosts free hip‑hop concert and month‑long musical season

The Secretaría de la Cultura y las Artes (Sedeculta) organized a free free‑admission event called "Mujer Cypher" on Friday, 26 June 2026 at the Teatro Armando Manzanero. The concert showcased female rappers and MCs from across Mexico, including pioneers Ximbo and Azuky "La Niña Galáctica", as well as local talent such as Boss Ayuso and Sam B., aiming to increase visibility for women in the hip‑hop scene.

In July, the city’s Temporada Olimpo program will present a month‑long series of musical premieres across public venues. Highlights include a tribute to Yucatán composer Juan Acereto by the group Yahal Kab, new jazz quintet performances under the project "La guitarra de jazz del sureste de México", and showcases of Yucatecan trova by the Hermanitas Pech Bolio. The cultural agenda, promoted by the Mérida municipal cultural department, also features free artistic workshops, dance performances, and a national oral‑narration encounter, all intended to broaden public access to the arts.
