Mérida kicks off 2026 Olimpo season with 39 cultural projects

The Mérida municipal government inaugurated the 2026 Olimpo cultural season, featuring 39 projects that will run from June to December. The program includes 166 artists, 141 performances across theater, dance, music, film, visual arts and more, plus 39 workshops and talks. Projects were selected through municipal funds for young creators and established artists, with a transparent committee of experts overseeing the allocation.

The launch coincided with a weekend agenda highlighting cultural activities in both Mérida and nearby Cancún. Offerings range from concerts, theater productions, tribute shows, dance performances, film screenings, and free family events at venues such as the Teatro de las Artes Nina Shestakova, the Palacio de la Música, and the Cancún International Autodrome. The schedule provides options for all ages, with many events billed as free or low‑cost, encouraging residents and visitors to engage with the region’s artistic scene.
