Mérida renovates La Mestiza and Reloj Maya roundabouts

Mérida Mayor Cecilia Patrón Laviada has inaugurated the renovation of the La Mestiza and Reloj Maya roundabouts as part of the ‘Mérida Enchula’ program. This initiative aims to transform over 800 public spaces with a total investment of 350 million pesos.

The La Mestiza roundabout in the Francisco de Montejo neighborhood underwent a comprehensive rehabilitation, including fountain repairs, LED lighting, and the restoration of the ‘Mujer con Ave’ sculpture by artist Reynaldo Bolio Suárez. The new design incorporates patterns inspired by traditional Yucatecan hipil embroidery and features bougainvillea plantings.

The Reloj Maya roundabout in Ciudad Caucel was remodeled with themes inspired by Mayan cosmology and timekeeping. Improvements included the installation of cobblestones, resin gravel, henequen vegetation, irrigation systems, and 16 LED lights to enhance traffic visibility and safety. The program intends to continue modernizing parks, sports areas, and providing free internet across the city.
