Mérida traffic accident leaves two injured after hit-and-run
A traffic accident in the Dolores Otero neighborhood of Mérida, Yucatán, left a motorcyclist and a passenger injured. The collision occurred at the intersection of 103rd and 52nd streets when a Jeep allegedly failed to yield the right of way, striking the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist sustained an open fracture to the right leg, and the passenger, reportedly a platform service user, also suffered injuries. Following the impact, the driver of the Jeep attempted to flee the scene. The driver was eventually intercepted by a snack company vehicle and local residents before police arrived to take the individual into custody.
Paramedics transported the injured parties to local hospitals, including Hospital Agustín O’Horán and an IMSS clinic. The driver remains in the custody of authorities to determine legal responsibility.
