Mário Gatti Hospital fire in Campinas caused by solar system short circuit

A fire broke out on the roof of the Mário Gatti Municipal Hospital in Campinas, Brazil, on Sunday afternoon. The blaze reportedly originated from a short circuit in the wiring of the hospital's solar energy system, affecting photovoltaic panels and roof insulation.

While the fire caused smoke to spread to areas near the intensive care unit (ICU) and the emergency department, no injuries were reported. As a preventive measure, the emergency room temporarily suspended the intake of new patients until safety conditions were restored.

The incident caused a momentary power outage in the surgical center, though hospital officials confirmed that no surgical procedures were in progress at the time. The fire was contained by the Fire Department and hospital staff using on-site equipment. The affected area has been isolated for forensic investigation and maintenance.
