Märkischer Kreis seeks volunteer language mentors

The Märkischer Kreis is seeking new volunteer language mentors to support primary school children. The Municipal Integration Center, which has operated a language mentorship program for seven years, currently manages 50 such partnerships.

Volunteers are asked to spend approximately one hour per week with a child at a local primary school. The goal is to promote German language skills through play, including activities such as reading children's books, playing games, drawing, and crafting. The program specifically targets newly immigrated children to provide regular support in their daily lives. Interested individuals receive preparation from educators before their first assignment and participate in exchange meetings twice a year.
