Mértola and Serpa partner to revitalize Vale do Poço Agricultural Fair

The municipalities of Mértola and Serpa are collaborating to revitalize the Vale do Poço Cross-Border Agricultural Fair. This joint organization aims to provide new momentum to the region and foster territorial cohesion, particularly as Vale do Poço is situated between the two municipalities.

Mário Tomé, Mayor of Mértola, stated that the goal is to achieve sustained growth rather than immediate expansion. He emphasized that the fair should serve as a platform for discussing critical regional challenges, such as water availability for agricultural activities and the economic development of rural areas.

Francisco Picareta, Mayor of Serpa, highlighted the synergies between the two towns, noting that the cooperation is a natural response to the shared geography of the area. He described the initiative as a way to connect local populations, businesses, and decision-makers to promote the territory's future.
