Mértola inaugurates new €2.5M school center

The Mértola Municipality has inaugurated a new school center following a 2.5 million euro investment. The project, which received community support, aims to implement an integrated teaching model that serves students from pre-school through the 12th grade within a single physical space.

The new facility is designed to accommodate more than 150 children in the pre-school and first cycle of basic education. It features eight activity rooms, a pantry, multi-activity rooms, a library, a laboratory, and outdoor play areas.

Mário Tomé, the president of the municipality, stated that the investment addresses the need to replace aging buildings that no longer met modern requirements. The new center is intended to improve the educational experience through modern facilities and increase efficiency in human and logistical resource management.
