Márton Gulyás to establish rural media workshop in Penészlek

Márton Gulyás, the founder of the Hungarian media outlet Partizán, has announced plans to move to the countryside to establish a media workshop in Penészlek, a village in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county. The project aims to document the realities and social issues of Eastern Hungary, moving beyond the focus on the capital to contribute to the democratization of the Hungarian public sphere. Gulyás intends to use a former medical clinic in the village as the center for this initiative and is seeking donations to fund the renovation.

This move coincides with leadership changes at Partizán. Vince Földiák, a long-time collaborator, will take over as editor-in-chief, while Gulyás will transition to the roles of board chairman and senior content creator. Gulyás previously stepped back from regular broadcasting due to health reasons, having undergone open heart surgery following a diagnosis of atrial fibrillation.
