Márton Áron: 130th anniversary commemorations held in Csíkszentdomokos
Commemorations were held in Csíkszentdomokos to mark the 130th anniversary of the birth of Márton Áron, the former Roman Catholic bishop of Transylvania. The two-day event included a Holy Mass celebrated by Archbishop Gergely Kovács and Apostolic Nuncio Giampiero Gloder.
As part of the anniversary, the Márton Áron Museum hosted its 15th conference focusing on the bishop's legacy and research.
Márton Áron, born in 1896 to Szekler farmers, was a prominent figure known for defending minority rights and religious freedom. He famously condemned the persecution of Jews in 1944 and stood against various forms of dictatorship throughout his life.
