MS-040 highway bridge maintenance restricts heavy vehicles
Preventive maintenance on two bridges along the MS-040 highway, located at kilometers 205 and 223 near Santa Rita do Pardo, has resulted in significant traffic restrictions. The works, managed by the concessionaire Caminhos da Celulose, began on September 6 and are expected to last between 30 and 60 days.
Heavy vehicles, including buses and trucks, are strictly prohibited from using the affected stretch. Light vehicles are permitted to pass using a ‘stop and go’ system with alternating releases. The Highway Military Police Battalion (BPMRv) has increased monitoring, noting that violators may face multiple infractions for disobeying authority and bypassing road blocks.
Drivers of large vehicles are advised to use alternative routes, such as BR-262 between Campo Grande and Três Lagoas, or BR-267 between Nova Alvorada do Sul and Bataguassu. The concessionaire recommends that transport companies plan itineraries in advance to avoid delays caused by the structural conservation works.
