MS-040 highway bridges to undergo structural reinforcement

Structural reinforcement works are scheduled to begin on Monday (12) for two bridges on the MS-040 highway in the Santa Rita do Pardo region. The bridges, located at kilometers 205 and 223, have been restricted to heavy vehicles since September after inspections identified a risk of collapse due to structural wear from years of overweight truck traffic.

The concessionaire Caminhos da Celulose will execute the works, which include reinforcing foundations, installing metal structures, and widening lanes to include shoulders. The project is expected to be completed by November 30. During this period, heavy vehicles are prohibited, while light vehicles may pass using a stop-and-go system.

The State Agency for the Regulation of Public Services of Mato Grosso do Sul (AGEMS) is monitoring the interventions. Truck drivers traveling between São Paulo, Bataguassu, and Campo Grande are advised to detour via BR-267 and BR-163.
