MS Deutschland begins final cruise for Phoenix Reisen

The MS Deutschland has departed Bremerhaven, Germany, to begin its final cruise for Phoenix Reisen. The vessel, built in 1998, is currently on an eight-day journey through the English Channel and the North Sea, with scheduled stops in Portsmouth, Fowey, Saint-Malo, Antwerp, and IJmuiden.

The ship has significant cultural history in Germany, having served as the filming location for the ZDF television series ‘Das Traumschiff’ between 1999 and 2015. Following its tenure as a television icon, it has been operated by Phoenix Reisen since 2015.

The departure marks the end of the current charter agreement with the Bonn-based travel operator. Phoenix Reisen has not extended the contract beyond 2026, and the ship is expected to leave the company's fleet by 2027. The future of the vessel, owned by the American company Delos Cruise, remains undecided as no new charterer has been announced for the 2027 summer season.
