MS Dhoni stake negotiations with Chennai Super Kings reportedly fail
Negotiations between former Indian captain MS Dhoni and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) management have reportedly stalled regarding a potential stake purchase in the franchise. Reports suggest that Dhoni sought a 25% stake in the team, later reducing the demand to 20%, while the franchise offered a 5.5% stake.
Former cricketer Aakash Chopra has characterized the reported demand as unrealistic. Commenting on the potential valuation of the franchise, which is estimated to be around 1.8 billion, Chopra noted that acquiring a 25% stake would require an investment of approximately 400 million, stating, “No one gives 400 million to anyone.” The breakdown in discussions has led to speculation regarding the future relationship between Dhoni and the team he has been associated with since the inaugural IPL season in 2008.
