MÉS per Mallorca accuses Balearic Health Department of violating linguistic rights

The political group MÉS per Mallorca has accused the Balearic Islands' Department of Health of violating the linguistic rights of patients. The complaint centers on the ‘Espai Salut’ application, which reportedly lacks full Catalan language support.

According to deputy Maria Ramon, several essential medical documents—including laboratory reports, medication sheets, dispensing calendars, and digital clinical histories—are only available in Spanish. Ramon argued that access to health information in one's own language is a fundamental patient right rather than a luxury. She noted that these digital tools fail to guarantee rights that were already being compromised following the removal of Catalan language requirements for healthcare professionals three years ago.
