MSC World America launches as major cruise vessel in the Caribbean

The Caribbean cruise market is seeing a shift toward large-scale luxury vessels, highlighted by the deployment of the MSC World America. Built at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyards in Saint-Nazaire, France, for 1.1 billion euros, the ship was inaugurated in Miami in April 2025.

The vessel measures 333 meters in length with a gross tonnage of 216,638. It can accommodate 5,240 passengers across 2,614 cabins and 22 decks, supported by a crew of 2,138. To reduce sulfur and fine particle emissions, the ship utilizes liquefied natural gas (LNG) propulsion.

Onboard amenities include 19 restaurants, 21 bars, six pools, and the 'Jaw Drop @ The Spiral', a 74-meter dry slide. The ship also features the first Eataly restaurant at sea. Travelers to the region can engage in various activities, including diving in the Cayman Islands or the Bahamas, exploring local markets, and taking cruises to experience the islands' diverse culture and marine life.
