Doctors Without Borders halts 3D mask production for Gaza burn victims
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has announced it can no longer produce specialized 3D-printed masks for patients with severe facial burns in Gaza. The organization cited Israeli restrictions and blockades on essential medical supplies as the primary cause for the suspension of this service.
Dr. Feras Swairjo, an MSF physiotherapy manager, stated that the last 3D-printed mask was produced on October 14, 2026. He warned that without these specialized masks, patients, including many young children, face the risk of permanent facial disfigurement and disabilities affecting their movement, vision, or breathing.
MSF reported that burn injuries in the region stem from various causes, including Israeli airstrikes and accidents occurring while cooking in overcrowded tents. The organization called on Israeli authorities to allow the unrestricted entry of necessary medical materials to prevent these avoidable disabilities.
