MSF resumes maternity care at Isaïe Jeanty hospital in Haiti

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) announced the resumption of its services at the Isaïe Jeanty maternity hospital in the Cité Soleil commune of Port‑au‑Prince. After a suspension that began on 19 June due to intense armed clashes, the facility has been operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week since 14 July. The restart follows previous temporary closures in May and is coordinated with Haiti’s Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP).

The security situation in Cité Soleil remains volatile, with ongoing exchanges of fire affecting access to health care. During the first half of 2026, the maternity unit recorded 995 deliveries and treated 122 survivors of sexual violence, underscoring the critical need for continuous services in the area.
