MÜSİAD President endorses Turkey’s Medium Term Program

Burhan Özdemir, President of the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MÜSİAD), has expressed support for Turkey’s recently announced Medium Term Program (OVP), describing it as a more realistic and rational planning tool compared to previous versions.

Özdemir emphasized that the business community prioritizes predictability over specific numerical targets. While noting that the program's inflation and interest rate targets are not overly ambitious, he highlighted the importance of maintaining economic stability.

A key concern raised by Özdemir is the potential tension between disinflationary policies and industrial growth. He cautioned against a scenario where efforts to lower inflation inadvertently cool down production and industry. He argued that for inflation to reach sustainable levels, the country must maintain its capacity to produce and grow without forcing the real market to choose between price stability and industrial activity.
