Música al Castell festival in Dénia highlights Mayte Martín and Luar Na Lubre

The third edition of the Música al Castell festival took place in the historic Explanada del Gobernador at the Castle of Dénia, Spain. On Friday, singer Mayte Martín performed her album "Tatuajes," revisiting classics from bossa nova to Argentine folk, accompanied by pianist Nelsa Baró, bassist Guillermo Prats, and drummer Vicens Soler. Despite a sweltering heat that the artist described as the hottest she had ever felt, the audience stayed engaged for the hour‑and‑a‑half concert.

The following night, Celtic folk group Luar Na Lubre celebrated its 40th anniversary with a two‑hour set that included traditional Galician songs and original material. Founder Bieito Romero noted the band's links to the broader Celtic world, and the eight‑member ensemble was joined by vocalist Cris López. Both performances drew several hundred spectators, underscoring the festival’s role in showcasing diverse musical traditions.
