Música de la Tierra festival focuses on sustainability in Montevideo

The Música de la Tierra cultural festival will celebrate its 15th anniversary on October 31 and November 1 at Parque Villa Dolores–Parque de la Amistad in Montevideo, Uruguay. The “Tributo a la Amistad” edition will feature 16 concerts by various Latin American artists, alongside workshops, talks, and gastronomic offerings.

A central component of the event is a sustainability plan designed to mitigate environmental impacts. The organizers aim to recover at least 60% of the total waste generated through recycling and composting. To achieve this, the festival will implement waste separation stations and provide guidance to the public on correct classification.

To reduce single-use waste, the event will prohibit disposable plastic tableware, styrofoam, nylon bags, and single-dose containers at food stalls, prioritizing reusable or compostable materials. Additionally, the festival will provide free potable water and implement guidelines for responsible water and energy consumption.
