MúsicaOcupa festival celebrates 10 years of classical music in public spaces
The MúsicaOcupa festival is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a series of events across Quito, Cuenca, and Loja, Ecuador. Organized by the InConcerto collective, the festival aims to bring classical music out of traditional concert halls and into everyday public spaces such as markets, streets, hospitals, and community centers.
In Loja, the festival will take place from September 18 to 21, 2026, featuring urban interventions, interactive sound devices in Jipiro Park, and specialized sessions for breastfeeding mothers in collaboration with the REDNI Foundation. Other scheduled activities include the ‘Cantata del Café’ concert at INDERA EXPERIENCE.
Beyond its musical programming, the tenth edition includes a campaign addressing chronic childhood malnutrition. The festival is also planning an international expansion, with upcoming activities slated for La Serena, Chile.
