MSME associations reject government veto on 30-day payment terms

Business associations representing micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) have expressed categorical rejection of a government veto that eliminates the requirement for timely 30-day payments to small providers.

Trade groups argue that the measure weakens essential protections for smaller suppliers. They warn that extended payment terms of 60 to 90 days or more directly harm liquidity, employment, and business continuity. The associations contend that large companies should not be allowed to finance their operations using the financial capacity of smaller enterprises.

The groups emphasized that timely payment is a principle of commercial justice rather than a privilege, noting that while MSMEs face delayed income, they must still meet immediate obligations such as salaries, rent, taxes, and financial commitments. They have called on Congress to reject the veto to prevent potential business closures and job losses.
