MST expands Armazéns do Campo network in Pernambuco
The Landless Workers' Movement (MST) in Pernambuco is expanding its ‘Armazéns do Campo’ network through the reopening of existing units and the creation of a new one. The initiative aims to connect family farmers and agrarian reform cooperatives directly with urban consumers by selling pesticide-free food products.
In Caruaru, the unit is scheduled to reopen on September 3 at Praça Pedro de Souza. The reopening will feature ‘Culinária da Terra’ (Earth Cuisine) and various cultural performances. In Recife, the space is relocating to the Bairro do Recife area, with a reopening date to be announced soon. Additionally, a new unit is planned for Petrolina, expected to open in September.
Beyond food commercialization, these spaces are designed to serve as hubs for cultural activities, political articulation, and educational training, strengthening the link between rural production and urban consumption.
