MST mobilizes for 2026 elections with focus on agrarian reform

The Landless Workers' Movement (MST) has initiated mobilization efforts for the 2026 Brazilian elections, focusing on agrarian reform as a central political platform. During a national plenary, the movement gathered dozens of parliamentarians, party leaders, and pre-candidates for various offices, including state governorships and the federal legislature, to reaffirm their commitment to ‘Popular Agrarian Reform’.

In Paraná, the MST organized a meeting in Laranjeiras do Sul involving approximately 500 militants and left-wing political figures. The event featured Gleisi Hoffmann and Dr. Rosinha, candidates for the Senate from the Workers' Party (PT). The mobilization aims to leverage the MST's presence in rural areas to support progressive candidates in upcoming state and federal contests.

Key themes of the discussions included the fight against the advance of the far-right, the necessity of democratizing land access amidst climate crises and agribusiness expansion, and the protection of women's political rights.
