Móstoles reaches agreement for new fire station amid employment disputes
The City Council of Móstoles and the Community of Madrid have reached an agreement to construct a new fire station. This project aims to replace the current facilities on Empecinado Street, a demand raised since the municipal fire service was integrated into the Community of Madrid's service nearly two years ago. While the agreement marks a significant step forward, the project still awaits a finalized budget, tendering process, and a confirmed start date for construction.
Separately, the PSOE (Socialist Party) in Móstoles has criticized the local government for a significant reduction in municipal employment and training programs. The party reports that available positions have dropped from 118 in 2021 to 69 projected for 2026, representing a 41.5% decrease. The PSOE specifically highlighted the loss of social support roles, such as assistants for the elderly and individuals with reduced mobility, arguing that the reduction impacts both local employment opportunities and essential community services.
