Werder Bremen targets DFB-Pokal prize money

German football club SV Werder Bremen is targeting significant financial gains in the upcoming DFB-Pokal season. After several early exits in recent years, the club aims to advance further to secure increased prize money. For the current season, the DFB has increased the total prize pool to approximately 83 million euros. Participants in the first round receive 228,189 euros, while advancing to the second round nearly doubles that amount to 456,377 euros.

Werder Bremen faces Lüneburger SK Hansa in their opening match. Success in the tournament offers escalating rewards, with payouts reaching 1.825 million euros for quarter-finalists and 3.651 million euros for semi-finalists. The winner of the competition stands to earn a total of 13,110,199 euros.

In other DFB-Pokal news, coach Kristian Arambasic is preparing to lead amateur side SSV Jeddeloh II against 1. FC Heidenheim. This marks Arambasic’s fifth time managing an amateur club in the first round of the tournament.
