Mszana Dolna murder‑suicide triggers extensive police search

Police in the Polish region of Lesser Poland confirmed that a 19‑year‑old man attacked his former partner in the village of Mszana Górna on Monday evening, striking her with a sharp instrument and causing her death. The suspect fled into the nearby forest of the Mszana Dolna municipality. A large‑scale manhunt was launched, employing a police helicopter, about ten drones, tracking dogs and road checkpoints.

The following morning the suspect's body was located on a forest slope, also with a sharp tool found nearby. Prosecutors said the evidence points to suicide, though forensic analysis is pending. Both victims' bodies were secured for autopsy, and the regional prosecutor's office announced a formal investigation into the murder and the suspect's death. The operation involved the Kraków Provincial Police, forensic experts, and the Limanowa fire brigade’s drone unit.
