MT Melsungen narrowly avoids missing flight to Skopje

The MT Melsungen handball team experienced significant travel disruptions while traveling for a crucial Champions League match against HC Vardar Skopje. A traffic jam on the highway caused the team to arrive late to Dortmund airport, leading to initial difficulties during the check-in process.

Further complications occurred at the boarding gate, where staff initially refused to let the players through. The team was eventually permitted to board after it was determined that unloading their already-stowed luggage would take longer than allowing the players to remain on the aircraft.

MT Melsungen requires a draw in Skopje to secure a spot in the main round on their own merit. If they lose, they will need a specific result from the HBC Nantes vs. Wisla Plock match to advance; otherwise, they will move to the European League.
