MTA cleaner stabbed on Times Square subway platform

A transit worker was stabbed on a Times Square subway platform on Monday night after confronting a man for urinating in public. The victim, a 30-year-old MTA cleaner, was attacked following a verbal altercation around 10:30 p.m.

The assailant reportedly engaged in a physical fight with the worker before stabbing him in the left arm. The victim was transported to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition and has since been treated and released.

The suspect, described by the NYPD as a bespectacled man with a goatee carrying a backpack, fled the scene on a southbound No. 1 train and remains at large. Bill Amarosa Jr., the MTA’s executive vice president of subways, condemned the attack, stating it is “unacceptable that someone would attack a transit worker doing their job.” The NYPD is requesting public assistance in locating the individual.
