MTA to shut down L train for two weekends in October
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has announced scheduled weekend shutdowns on the L subway line, affecting service between Lorimer Street and Eighth Avenue. The disruptions are set to occur from 11:15 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday during the weekends of October 2–5 and October 9–12.
An MTA spokesperson stated that the agency is using the outages to install new communications equipment and perform routine track maintenance. The shutdowns have drawn criticism from commuters who expressed concerns regarding potential delays, increased travel times, and the difficulty of navigating alternative routes during work hours.
