MTA worker finds body in New York City subway tunnel

An MTA worker discovered the body of a man inside a service closet in a New York City subway tunnel on Saturday morning. The discovery occurred around 11:00 a.m. while the employee was working on a project near the 125th Street and Lexington Avenue station in East Harlem.

The body was located in a closet on the 6 line, approximately 98 to 100 feet north of the station. Authorities estimate the deceased was a man between 20 and 30 years old. Based on initial observations, sources suggest the individual may have been there for several days.

Emergency services pronounced the man dead at the scene. The NYPD reported that there were no obvious signs of trauma on the body, and investigators do not currently suspect a crime. The New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an investigation to determine the official cause of death and identify the individual.
