MTC commits N$624.9m to Namibia digital infrastructure

MTC has announced a N$624.9 million capital expenditure commitment for the 2025/26 financial year to expand digital infrastructure in Namibia. The investment aims to widen digital access through network coverage expansion, fibre connectivity rollouts, infrastructure upgrades, and the accelerated deployment of 5G technology.

Speaking at the 25th Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair, MTC Chief Technical and Information Officer Monica Nehemia stated that connectivity should be viewed as economic infrastructure that links businesses and communities to opportunities. She emphasized that digital inclusion is central to the company’s purpose and highlighted the importance of embedding ESG principles into business operations.

In addition to infrastructure, MTC allocates at least N$1.2 million annually to support trade fairs and exhibitions across Namibia to promote entrepreneurship and economic participation. The company has maintained a partnership with the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair for over 20 years.
